Born July 4th 1992 Pouie is the last of her litter to crossover to the rainbow bridge.
It was a warm July morning 1992 when I met and fell head over heels in love with a little white border Collie . I named her "Poutine" Aka "Pouie"...... 15 years..how time flew, it seems like only yesterday.
"Pouie" loved to please me and it didn't take her long to start teaching me how to use all her talents and to find & use all the new talents she was about to bring out in me.
"Pouie" forgave me all my human failings and was a very patient teacher to me. Humans are so hard to train, but I did catch on !
Over the past 15 years we learned & played together. With "Pouie's" help I became a very good writer and together we wrote for newspapers, Magazines, we traveled and spoke at Seminars, been on T.V. and radio programs we also have performed in flyball , Agility, Frisbee demos to music & trick demos. "Pouie" was in many Movies (Character parts) & many commercials.
"Pouie" has been a great teacher & example for "Hana" who is 3 years, Betty & Switch 1 year. They have watched her & learned how to behave & wait, watch when we are working with dogs with issues. Being deaf all her life never stopped her and when she started going blind at 5 years she never stood and still danced to the tune in her heart.
I make three promises to "Pouie" the day we met and fell in love; (all my dogs get this promise.)
That I would always be worthy of being looked up to.
That I would always hold her best interest above my own.
Never let her suffer needlessly
Pouie has been the best dog I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with. I have learned much from her over the past 15 years, and she has been a very patient teacher .
She learned to swim this past summer. Go figure...... deaf and now blind she swims with the other dogs. Goes to show you we as humans should take lessons from dogs...she never stopped learning or trying.
Pouie has left her paw prints deep in my heart.
Thank you to "Pouie's Veterinarian Lori Clarke & her assistant Krista who's compassion for their clients had them crying with us . Today was hard for them too!
You see the love story is not ending. Even though it is hard for me to say good bye to her, I remember my promises to her and also that we have had a 15 great years together . As Pouie "fell asleep" in my arms this afternoon, I remembered how many times over the years she has been my strength. Pouie taught me what it was to have the heart of a lion,(I know she will forgive the feline reference) about tolerance, of true Loyalty, courage, grace, trust and respect. I will be forever grateful to her !
"Good night, girl friend."
Treasured Friend
I lost a treasured friend today, Pouie, my dog
who used to lay her gentle head upon my knee
and share her silent thoughts with me...
She'll come no longer to my call retrieve no more her favorite ball
A voice far greater than my own, has called her to his heavenly home.
Although my eyes are filled with tears, I thank Him for the happy years.
He let her spend here with me, she gave me all her love and loyalty
When it is time for me to go and join her there, this much I know...
I shall not fear the transient dark .......for she will greet me with her bark.
woof...Peni, Jim "Switch" "Betty" & "Hana" ^..^~!

In loving memory of My Blaze "Alydars Art of WAR" He lost his battle with a sand stone.
He was a wonderful stud that anyone could handle.
He will be missed sorely.
I only had him for 6 months but he was still my baby.
He was the most loving horse I think I've had.
He is now running wild in heaven, waiting.

It was sad that you never had a good life from the beginning,
your last few months were probably the happiest couple months of your life,
Even though it ended so tragically.
You'll always be in our hearts and greatly missed by many.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge...together...

Somewhere in time's own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some paradise where horses go,
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.

Just a Horse!
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse,"
or,”that's a lot of money for just a horse".
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the
costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come about
with "just a horse."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did
not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about
by "just a horse," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just
a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a horse" brings out the compassion and
patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will
rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of
all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past,
and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but
the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman/man."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because
they "just" don't understand.
